Dudley Wines, Pioneer of Kangaroo Island’s rapidly
expanding wine industry, was established in 1994 by three
local identities who have worked the soils of Kangaroo Island
for generations. From humble beginnings, Dudley Wines remains
KI’s largest wine producer, producing nine different
wine styles from three vineyards spread across the stunning
Dudley Peninsula on the eastern end of Kangaroo Island.
The Wines
Grassy Flat Sauvignon Blanc
This refreshing white wine is from our maturing Sauvignon
Blanc vineyard planted in 2002, with beautiful tropical
aromas and a lingering finish, it shows the great potential
this varietal has in Kangaroo Islands cool climate
Island Chardonnay
A fine example of a lightly wooded Chardonnay from Kangaroo
Island, displaying apples and pears and balanced acidity,
this is a wine of distinctive elegance and complexity
Pink Bay Rose
This 100% Shiraz rose displays a bright and vibrant crimson
colour with hints of confectionary and fresh raspberries,
all rounded out with the perfect balance of sweetness and
acidity. A perfect summer wine.
Mary’s Blush
Mary’s Blush is a Cabernet based sparkler that has
enjoyed enormous popularity since its release in 2006. Fruity,
with a lingering strawberry sweetness, it makes a perfect
start to any occasion.
Glossy Black Sweet Red
This is an `old fashioned’ sweet red style that used
to be popular in the 50’s and 60’s. Made from
fully ripe Shiraz, it is rich and unctuous, with a distinctive
fruit driven palate. Made to be enjoyed slightly chilled.
MacDonnell Merlot
Launched in 2004 this is a soft and flavour packed red.
Medium dark crimson in colour gives over to aromas of dark
sweet fruits, leather and spice. Fresh and vibrant, with
long lasting flavour, it is a great drink anytime red.
Shearing Shed Red
A contemporary blend of Cabernet, Shiraz and Merlot, this
is the wine that started it all for Dudley Wines –
and continues to deliver, with a soft and smooth palate
balanced by full flavour and a grippy tannin finish.
Hog Bay River Cabernet
This is a fine example of an award winning cool climate
Cabernet Sauvignon. It is rich and vibrant with well structured
tannins that provide a smooth and supple texture.
Porky Flat Shiraz
Displaying good dark colour with perfumed elegant aromas,
this wine has a palate of sweet juicy cherries and a hint
of spicy barrel ferment finishing with fine tannins. A true
and distinctive Kangaroo Island varietal.
The Food
The café at Dudley Cellar Door offers up good honest
food with a touch of flair from cellar door manager/trained
chef Adam Hay. With a distinctive emphasis on Kangaroo Island
produce the seasonally changing menu showcases the fantastic
quality that the region has to offer.
Many of the dishes are matched to Dudley’s range
of wines to provide the customer with a complete food and
wine experience. The cellar door also sells a large amount
of Island produce that is featured in the menu and is a
perfect stop to buy up before getting on the ferry for the
trip home.
As one of the pioneers of the region,
Dudley Wines continue to set the benchmark for varietal
style and quality from one of the newest cool-climate viticultural
regions in Australia.
Good Food Kangaroo Island is an industry group
formed to encourage and support value adding producers and
